Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification

Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification measures accessibility standards in the operation of a building and in recognition of an organization’s commitment to providing an accessible building.

The Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification program works to help improve accessibility of the built environment in Canada – the places where we live, work, learn and play and helps create a fully accessible and inclusive Canada. 

Certification is from January 20, 2021 to January 20, 2026.

2019 BOMA Toronto race2reduce Collaboration Award

BOMA Toronto's response to the call for Climate Action. It is an Industry-led corporate challenge to promote operational excellence and emission reduction through improved building performance, innovation and unprecedented collaboration between building OWNERS, MANAGERS and TENANTS.

ENERGY STAR Certification

ENERGY STAR® certified buildings perform in the top 25 percent of similar buildings nationwide.  ENERGY STAR® certification is delivered by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  145 King Street West has been certified annually since 2019.

2018 Canada Green Building Council Green Building Excellence Award

The Green Building Excellence Awards recognize outstanding projects and programs in Ontario which go above and beyond the normal scope of sustainable best practices.

2018 BOMA Toronto TOBY Award - 500,000 – 1 million sq. ft. Category

Winners at the local level receive an invitation to enter into the BOMA Canada National Awards along with a registration form, directly from BOMA Canada.

TOBY® winners are recognized in specific categories of building size or type. Judging is based on building standards, community impact, tenant relations, energy conservation, environmental, regulatory and sustainability, emergency preparedness & security standards and the training of building personnel.

2018 BOMA Building Excellence Award

The program sets the standards in the industry and recognizes excellence in property and facility management. Certificates acknowledge performance quality and the people behind it. Buildings with the highest score in their category for a given year, earn the TOBY Award locally and have the opportunity to compete nationally and even internationally.

2017 LEED Platinum Certified

LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Available for virtually all building, community and home project types, LEED provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings. LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement.  145 King Street West was previously LEED Gold Certified.

2016 BOMA BEST Gold Certified

BOMA BEST Sustainable Buildings certification recognizes excellence in energy and environmental management and performance in commercial real estate. The Program is managed by the Building Owners and Managers Association of Canada (BOMA Canada) and delivered by the eleven Local BOMA Associations throughout Canada.  Previously, 145 King Street West was certified as BOMA BESt Level 2 under the former certification system.

2015 Civic Action's Race to Reduce Winner: Greatest Energy Reduction Award

Launched in 2011, Civic Action’s first iteration of the Race to Reduce challenged Toronto region landlords and tenants in office buildings of all types, sizes and ages to work together to collectively reduce energy use in their buildings and to decrease the total energy use.

BOMA Toronto 2012 TOBY Award - 500,000 sq. ft. – 1 Million sq. ft. Category

The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Awards are the most prestigious and comprehensive programs of their kind in the commercial real estate industry recognizing quality in buildings and rewarding excellence in building management

During the competitions, all facets of a building’s operations are thoroughly evaluated. Buildings are judged on everything from community involvement and site management to environmental and “green” policies and procedures.

This prestigious awards program honours innovation, creativity and professional achievement in the province's interior design industry.
